males excrete a seminal plug, if they do not mate with another iguana or an inanimate object. The semen builds up and hardens into a plug like form. It is sometimes released when going to the bathroom, but not always. Sometimes they get it stuck in their vent (Sleestack is known for this) Warm tub soaks, KY jelly, and a little assistance are needed (once I still had to take him to the vet because it was soooo big and it just looked painfully lodged in his hiney! They can be orangey, brown or beige in color-- and they can be soft like a sack of goo or hard and shriveled up like a dried apricot (I guess it depends on how long they've been keeping it up there!) I have been dealing with these things on and off for probably 8 years or so and as gross as they are, it is better than dealing with eggs I figure! (less worrisome anyway)
