Hi Yvette, Being gravid means that they have eggs. Being egg-bound means they are gravid and will not or can't lay. Mine had her first clutch at around 2. Typically they will eat very well going into the egg development period, but then go off food for weeks in the later stages. This is not true for all as mine kept a good appetite throughout. In the later stages eggs can be seen as marble size lumps in abdomen, usually at the edges. They also become increasingly restless and some times territorial. They may try to dig even if nothing suitable is available. All Igs do not produce eggs every year but mine did. The third year this happened she was spayed. It is a potentially life threatening condition. If you have other questions feel free to e-mail me. Mellisa Kaplin's page has some good info as well as The Green Iguana Sister's page. There is a link to the later on a 1-16 post "Re: Plants with protein-chart-" from Hakan. Good Luck and happy Herping, Iguana03
