Sheri, Bug, our male, was doing much the same thing through the summer, and has also calmed down. He lunged at my wife every time she came near him, and she had to be pretty careful. He actually jumped on her back, and attempted to bite her in the back of the neck at one point. He's calmed down now, and seems to be back to normal. I attribute this to an early breeding season, as he usually starts in September, but this started in June. I suspect that yours will get a little more sane, too. It's probably just breeding agression...
