Having hard time taming my iggy... Why?

The first day I had him, he was of course a little afraid, but after a little coaxing he was running up and down my arms. Now he seems very figity, and territorial. I know that he is a male, thus territorial, but what would make him turn mean? because I have school, and football practice, sometimes i dont get to handle him as much as id like. also, if I turn on the light in the room, He starts attacking the glass, I can get him to stop but it takes a while..
