you betcha! they can get jealous and very possessive!!
iZ is extremely jealous of infants (like my new granddaughter) ... to the point where he starts looking around for her if he hears an infant cry on TV! he doesn't mind the girls once they get about 9 mo old cuz then they don't seem to spend QUITE so much time in what he considers HIS PLACE ~ my arms ... heaven forbid that i pick iZ up wearing the same shirt that i wore when i held a baby ~ the scent infuriates him!!!
he threw SUCH a jealous fit last winter when we were going to puppy-sit my son's dog, that he slammed his face into something and gave himself a black eye!
during mating season, he sees my red-headed hubby as the ultimate threat! when iZ is downstairs for supper/social time, hubby is not allowed to be on the same side of the room as i am or iZ will literally FLY at me, mouth gaping open, determined to claim me for his very own ... (now, it's possible that he merely wants to cuddle when he does that, but flying open-mouth dragons tend to make me a wee bit nervous ... )
btw ~ when he *does* "start up" he gets sent to his room, for MY protection! *grin* ... his aggressive acting out is always aimed at me alone cuz i'm HIS!!!
so YES they can be very jealous! be glad your girl is showing it in a nicer, calmer way than iZ does! she just wants to make sure you're not gonna 'replace' her ... :)
Bon. + iZ
