Now I could be wrong, and I am not saying that this little item works, but when I was in grade school, as long ago as that was, there was a class science experment. In it, we made such an item, as you are talking about. When held over a girls hand, it rotated one way, when held over a boys hand, it did the exact opposite. I really dont remember why, but I do know it worked every time. Who knows, stranger things have happened. But somehow, I think if it really did work for reptiles, it would have been made public a long long time ago.
