Can he bite??

My question is about an iguana's agility i guess. My Gibil is still pretty wild when he's taken out for baths and taming. He whips his tail, and keeps his mouth open in his natural threatening manner. We've been putting a towel lightly across him since it seems to calm him, but i wondered if we were just to hold him under his back and front legs, if he could get his head around to bite if he wanted to....i dont know if iguanas are able to...he's over 3ft long stl. When we first got him he was weak and i dont think had eaten for quite awhile...since then he's fattened up a lot and very strong now.
