I also live in Central FL. There are some wild ones here.. but let loose by others or lost. I can't remember if you have had a fecal check done on yours. If not, you should because there is a good likelyhood that he has worms. Remember, you need to take in a FRESH sample. If you live around here, I can give you the name of a great vet.
In Miami, iguanas can survive outdoors a bit easier than here so there is a population there. I don't think you see them everywhere but there are enough that a sighting is possible.
