You said your Dad found this iguana, would he happen to live in Southern Florida by chance? If so, it's most likely a wild iguana in the first place and not owned by a human. Iguana's have become established in Southern Florida now and are setting up a large population down there. Many people mistake them as being pets that got away from an owner...when in fact most are wild born iglets. If you're Dad is from Southern Florida then I'd lay money on it that it's a wild iguana.
I've just resently been told that kids are now shooting BB guns at the iguanas and killing them like they use to do with birds because they are so many of them now. It's kinda sad...but guess who made this all happen.....uneducated reptile owners who decided to let their iguanas go free in Southern Florida.
