when iZ 1st got his own room:
the ceiling light in there *used* to be the pull-chain type ... it's in the center of the room and all that's directly below it is bare floor (well, carpet ...) ... it had a 2' metal chain that ended a good 5' from the floor and was 3' from his basking shelf ...

hubby feeds iZ breakfast every morning and turns his lights on ... after 3-4 days of me going up to get iZ in the afternoon and finding him in the dark (and not believing hubby that he really DID turn the lights on) ... i took care of iZ myself the next morning ... went up to get him in the afternoon and the lights were OUT ...

never figured out if he was leaping from the floor or the shelf, but he was definitely leaping at and grabbing that pull chain!!! (we re-did that particular fixture, btw)
