: : : A really good friend of mine just died and he owned an Iguana. I am now taking the Iguana so that it won't be given to a pet store, but, the only problem is that I really don't know a whole lot about Iguanas. It is about 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 feet long and has a cage that is about 6'H 8'L 4'W. I have been told to feed it lettuce about twice a week and to keep a full bowl if Iguana food from the pet store and lots of water in the cage at all times. If anyone has any helpful hints or advice it would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely Phil
I have owned an iguana for about 4 years. Iguanas should not be given lettuce, because it offers nothing to the iguana. Spinach or some other green leafy veggie would be better. Also avoid broccili, cabbage, and califlower, because these veggies contain chemicals which affect the iguanas lymph nodes.
Calcium is also important for iguanas muscles. A spray can be purchased at most pet stores. This spray is applied to the iguanas food during preparation. An vitamin suppliment should also be placed on the food before offering it the iguana.
If you need more info please contact me at the above address, and I'llbe glad to help.
