I don't think Roxy would put up with one second on a leash. I personally don't believe in leashes on iguanas at all. My iguana gets sun in a large outdoor cage during the summer. And when I want to bring a pet with me somewhere, I bring my dog.

Mind you this is my personal opinion, its fine if you want to use a leash with your iguana.
You might just need more practice, use it more often, and until he is not thrashing about on it, put it on him in the house a little while each day. He'll get used to it eventually.
