What's the sense of having my my UVB/A light??

: I am somewhat concerned that Hoss isn't going to get enough UVB/A light. He never basks under it in his enclosure. He only goes underneith the basking light. I know I should take him outside for the sun but I am on a 12 hour shift right now and I go into work at 6:00a.m and get off by 6:00 p.m..By the time I pick up my daughter from daycare and get home it's 6:45 and the summer days aren't lasting as long anymore and it's starting to get chilly by 7:00 p.m so I don't want to do that either...Is there anyway I can get him to sit under his UVB light more????
