It takes awhile for it to get bad-- and it really depends on how much your iguana scratches at it. If he is calm, it really can last for many years. If he scratches for several hours per day, it may not! Anyway, I never thought mine looked bad enough to replace. It is expensive. You can get it at the places you mentioned or call to get a piece custom cut (look at plastics in phone book) We had to get ours custom last time because the pieces were bigger than they carried at Home Depot (plus it can be cheaper to go with a plastics company) You have to call around.

Below is a link to the cost breakdown of Sleestack's latest (and hopefully last cage). I don't remember how much the plexi was, but I know it was in the 3 digits for his cage.
