: Is it possible that I just got a really wild iguana that won't be tamed??
I think he's acting normally for a baby ig. He will calm down once he's bigger and has earned your trust.
The way he's acting is actually one sign for health. Many babies bought at pet stores are too sick to whip or lash out. They sit there, calm and complacent--not normal behavior for an iglet.
I know it's probably tiring to try and tame him, but it *will* pay off. Few things in life are better than a sweet, funny, iguana. They can be so cute and do such funny things to reveal their individual personalities. My two iguanas are both so tame and trusting. Neither one has EVER tail whipped (didn't get them as babies, so I don't know what they were like then) or bitten anyone. They are both as sweet as they come, love to go on walks to feed the horses down the lane with us (with them on our shoulders) and they just love to be near us.
I wish you well...I really do. You sound like an INCREDIBLY wonderful, devoted, hardworking iguana owner and I want Hoss to turn out to be tame, calm, and healthy for you. Time, patience, work, patience, understanding, patience, and patience will accomplish this. :)
Keep posting as needed~It's always good to hear how you and Hoss are doing.
Diana~
