Well I have Floyd in his outside cage even when it is 110 outside. BUT~ he always has shade he can get into. I have him placed in the yard so that he gets the morning sun before it gets to hot~ and than as it starts to roast outside, He gets some filtered sun through the redwood tree. Plus its very dry here~ not enough humidity~ So he has a big pool of water at the bottom of his enclosure~ I also have a towel covering the top of one side of his cage~ at lunchtime I spray the towel down and him and the inside of his enclosure!~he seems to love this!LOL~ What you have to take into consideration is the age of your Iggy? If its little it can not take the heat as well as a full grown Iguana(Floyd is Big) YOU MUST always provide shade~ If we were having a serious heat wave and the temps rose past 110 I would most certainly take Floyd in at lunchtime and let him spend some time inside~
Also fresh drinking water is important~
I believe its very dry in Texas too~ So if you can't hose him down in the daytime when its really hot you might want to consider some kind of misting system~ I am just lucky as I live about a mile from work so can run home and take care of all our buddies~ Its supposed to be my lunchbreak!LOL~ more like Floyds lunchbreak!hehehe~ He now expects to have his lunch sitting on the warm cement by the edible flower and herb garden~ He will take some bites of this and that and than dig into his food bowl as if it has not been in his cage all morning!LOL~ The best part about having this outside cage is not having to buy all the special bulbs during the summer!~ Wish the summer would last all year!:O)~
