surgery #1 ~
(exploratory / diagnostic / remove foreign objects / clean out bladder / kidney biopsy) ~
pre-surg x-rays showed that his entire digestive system was full of water (he was EXCESSIVELY thirsty at that point) ... also showed 2 small foreign objects "stuck" in his lower intestines (stuck due to massive swelling of both kidneys pressing on cecum) ~ one was the back off one of my earrings (!) and one was a small 1/4" piece of plastic ...

before surgery, we knew that his kidneys were grossly swollen but we didn't know WHY ~ his lab tests did not come close to indicating how severely damaged his kidneys were ... (which worked out ok, doubt that Dr. M would've done surgery if he'd had any hint of how bad iZ's kidneys really were)

surgery #2 ~
(bladder stone / more no-no's swallowed + stuck)
pre-surg x-ray showed presence of massive bladder stone as well as *two* 3/8" links of chain in upper digestive tract ... (never figured out *where* the links came from! OR why he had to eat *2* of 'em!?)

*whew* ... it's has been a lonnnnnnnnng road hasn't it?

Bon.
