Diana is right, canned greens are no good for an iguana. In addition to being high in sodium, the canning process, whether cold or hot, changes the nutritional makeup of the food. However, when it comes to greens, frozen then thawed greens usually offer up to 50% more calcium than their fresh counterparts. This is due to the water content. I've used the frozen greens in a pinch and the iguanas do not seem to mind them at all. I'm not advocating a total frozen/thawed diet however the use of frozen greens mixed with fresh veggies and fruits isn't too horrible. For hatchlings I also have been known to mix in a small amount of Zoo Med's juvenile iguana food, let it dissolve in the moisture and then offer the food to an ig. I have done this to help increase the amount of protein when feeding a juvenile or sickly iguana. Please never feed commercial food alone and never feed it without spritzing it down with fluid or impaction can occur.
