The reason why I asked was because a friend of mine offered me her iguana and at the time I had no idea of how big her cage was. I started looking (just in case the cage was too small) and found the one I posted about but, like Brian said, I didn't think it would hold heat or humidity very well if at all and wanted a 2nd opinion. I spoke to my friend earlier today and the cage is 6ft wide 6ft tall and 2ft deep, ALOT bigger than the one I was looking at:) I'm still undecided if I will accept the iguana or not, I have 5 pythons and 1 boa but I don't know if there would be a problem with them and the iguana or not (4 of the pythons stay under 5ft). I planned on (if I accept) covering the snakes cages so the iguana wouldn't be able to see them. But from what she said he's not very friendly, doesn't like coming out of his cage, has bitten before that sort of thing, but will let his head be rubbed while he's eating, I figure with work he might be able to be "tamed down" and become more accepting of human contact. I hope to be able to see what the cage and iguana look like this week, It sounds like they gave him the best care possible in the past 7/8yrs they've had him. They got him from a friend of theirs when their friend moved away and couldn't take the iguana with him, which would make him around 9/10yrs old if not more. I've been going through the forum since sunday, I wrote down what some of you had answered to the post below about what your iguana had to eat that day, and have been looking for info on "taming", feeding, cageing, and lights and supplements and anything else that looks like it'd help me make up my mind. I've also been visiting the various sites some of you have links too, Mellissa Kaplan, and others that I cant remember exact names too, Samanthas page?? Iguana FIRST?? are two sites (I think I got the names right, sorry if I didn't) I've visited. I've also been looking at books that are recommended on iguanas and even if I don't get the iguana I'll most likely get the books anyway. I think the biggest problem with the cage is that I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment building so getting this cage up the stairs would be a feat of engineering. I've babysat an iguana for a friend of mine for about 1.5 weeks, some of you may remember me talking about "salmo" the iguana, I have some pics of her I'll have to scan and post for you all. My biggest fear is what will happen to the iguana if they can't find a home for him, if they let him loose, or give him to a person that does no research....icky thoughts to say the least. This and the whole thing with laws banning reptiles, I guess I feel kind of obligated to take the iguana and give him the best care I can, I would love to have an iguana so it's not like I would feel this was a chore or burden, I'd enjoy having him here and would work to try and get him tolerant of contact with me. Sorry this is so long, I just wanted to thank you for your posts, and to let you know I wasn't jumping into getting an iguana for the heck of it.
