Well what are you feeding him? He is of course just getting used to the new surroundings. Also if you fed him a diet with more water and better food than his previous owners, he will deficate more. When I adopted Roxy she only ate Collard greens, nothing else. I started feeding her other veggies, more greens (variety) and 5-10% fruit. Which contains more water. She pooped and urinated 2-3 times a day for a week or so, now she goes once a day.
