If you got enough ig people in one room, you could have a game of who has the most/best scars! LOL
I think you are probably right about the soap. I already have a dry skin problem with the hands due to cold weather, cold water and lots of handwashing due to kids, reptiles, etc. I think the soap on the bite (more of a scrape in a way) combined with the dry skin could cause the instant irritation. It's okay today but there's a little "line" where she scraped across the top of my finger.
As for salmonella......we've never worried about getting it from any of the reptiles. Even though I have an in-law who has made it his sworn duty to send us all articles he finds on this! It is more likely to get sick from food prepared wrong, etc. than it is to get sick from your ig, etc. in my opinion.
Have you ever seen the cartoon show Rocko's Modern Life? There's an episode where the turtle in reference to not contaminating the comic books says "You turn the page; you wash your hands....you turn the page; you wash your hands." This has become a running joke at our house because we are washing hands so much here. You pet; you wash. You clean; you wash. You feed; you wash. You get the picture! And I must say that my children don't get the "bugs" as often as most kids their age.
Take care & thanks for the input. A piece of cheese will be eaten in your honor today! *grin*
