No not necessarily. You can use the regular household bulbs. Apparantly there are some that are exactly like the ones made for reptiles (only cheaper). Some people think the iguana basking bulbs are a waste of money. I am, however, using a zoomed basking bulb right now, but have used both. I will search for the household one that is similar next time I go to Home Depot. The only thing essential from you heat bulb is heat of course, although the zoomed basking bulb has some UVA light, but like I said you can get household bulbs with that too.
The most important bulb is your UVB light. You need either a Zoomed 5 light or the active UV light (which is also a heat bulb...so you don't need 2 lights with active UV).
For night time you either need a very dark heat lamp or a ceramic bulb that gives off no light. It needs to be very dark in the cage. Ceramic bulbs are fairly expensive, but last a long time. ESU does make a bulb for nighttime that is very dark though and I have used this. (darn I threw away the packaging-- I was going to tell you exactly what it is called because they have many) If you order from herpsupplies.com and ask what the absolute darkest bulb they have, he should tell you. It is only $5 as opposed to the $30 ceramic bulb. And check out the link below someone gave me for the type of light that mimics the zoomed basking light. (I think it's a European site but I'm sure they make them here)
Okay this is probably more info than you were expecting and I hope I didn't confuse you with my rambling!
