i didn't even catch the part about WHAT antibiotic Shirley was given ... *smacking forehead HARD* ... must've been asleep ... IMHO ~ don't give her any more ... the chameleon board was correct ...

*Baytril* is THE drug of choice for igs, ALL others tend to be waaaaay too hard on the renal system and shouldn't be used ...
Baytril is just as effective given orally as it is by injection ~ it's one of the few drugs that there is actually research done on with igs ...
if given by injection, it MUST be given in the top 1/2 of the ig's body so it hits the renal system *last* ...

it'd be my guess tho, that if you are still getting 100cc of extra fluids into her a day, the one dose of Amikacin shouldn't be too big a worry ... keep pushing fluids to flush it thru!

one thing i've noticed with iZ over the last couple years:
as long as HE hasn't 'given up' there is hope!
