30 Gallon tank for baby ig? Okay or not??

Okay people I have been trying so hard to get all the info and necessary supplies to take care of an iguana. I knew it would be a while before I could get everthing together, but during a trip to a petstore I saw that a new shipment of baby ig's were being fed lettuce, commercial iguana food, and looked like maybe a supplement on top of the lettuce. That's it. The tank had "CRAP" all over, and the heat rocks were the only real source of heat. So I saw one iguana in this tank who looked in really good condition, but I knew if he isn't bought soon his condition could be grave. My question is I can get all the supplies soon, but the store is out of 55 gallon tanks and I can't build an enclosure this quick. I have an old 30 gallon tank. How long could I keep a baby ig in this aquarium until I can build a suitable enclosure or should I not buy this ig until I buy a good enclosure??? Thanks I need the help!!!!!!!!
