Well I suppose it would really depend on the personality of the iguana, but as a generalized statement I don't think iguanas would be ideal for these events. Many are a bit nervous around new people/surroundings, some are aggressive, and most at least get restless after awhile. Dogs are much more tolerant as a whole. And, if your iguana is only 1 years old-- you have no idea what he will be like in a couple years once he reaches sexual maturity-- watch out!
My last adult iguana was mellow enough to take in to kindergarden classes and on some excursions, but he would get restless after 20 minutes of strangers touching him and fauning over him. And, the teachers would have hand cleaning solution for all the kids afterwards as a precaution.
