What??? Worming cats every other month or so...sorry just my holistic views coming out a bit...hehehe. I hate giving meds/poison and if not needed it's even worse. Anyway...

I would suggest having them checked before worming...I also have read many places that it's not good to just worm them w/o knowing for sure they have worms. Hopefully someone else will have more info on the subject.:)

: K--Here's the scoop:
: For the last month or so, Bobbit's stool has been softer than I think it should be. I wouldn't say he has diarrhea, but I do think it's too soft; it's looser than Habibs, anyway. (Such a pleasant conversation, I know.) :)

: Anyway, I was thinking of having him de-wormed, but due to how expensive my vet bills have been so far this year, I was thinking of just asking my vet to prescribe some worming meds without performing another checkup. (Both igunanas have just been checked over in late Spring, and found to be in great health. X-rays, etc. Also, Bobbit was dewormed when we got him in March, and Habib was de-wormed in December.)

: Anyway, now after reading a bunch of your posts on here, I've learned that I shouldn't have my iguanas de-wormed without having a fecal smear done first.

: I had been thinking that it was more like de-worming a cat--you worm them every other month or so just to be safe. I had no idea that it is bad to de-worm iguanas unless there is a positive fecal exam done by a vet.

: What I'm wondering now is this: Is having soft stools a sign of having worms? Other than that "symptom", Bobbit is eating great, going to the bathroom regularly, acting normally, and seems to even be gaing weight (albeit very slowly). How often should you have them de-wormed? He was de-wormed in March, so is it time to have him checked again? My vet never told me when to come back.

: Thanks so much, all of you, for your wisdom, information, experiences, and your advice. I love this forum and am so glad to be a part of it!
: Diana
