Best to cut away the skin. I only feed grated butternut or spaghetti squash btw...but reason you want to cut away the peel from ANY fruit or hard vegetable...that's where most of the phytochemicals are that make it interfere with nutrient absorption...for instance bananas...already have tannic acid in them...but the peel has a much more higher concentrate of it that can make it downright harmful! Then you have oxalates in rinds such as orange peel, lemon, squash, watermelon rinds...best to avoid feeding peels, rinds, as much as possible.
