: If Jess is buying another ig from this person it is in no way rescuing. I rescue; I take in unwanted iguanas from people who for whatever reason have to give them up. I do not pay for them, in most cases I ask the person doing the surrender for a donation. She is purchasing, and this means the seller makes money, has no incentive to change, and so continues treating those iguanas badly. Does she learn anything? Yes, she learns that abused igs go to new homes faster because well-meaning people misguidedly 'rescue' them.
: What is Jess going to do? Buy every iguana this woman ever has? Wow, what a market opportunity.
: I hate sounding stony hearted, but it would be better for those igs she has to die while in her care so that if she does decide to get more (either wholesale purchasing or breeding), she will properly care for the new ones.

: : Why would you rescue or why would anyone for that matter? I think I must be missing your point since you ARE a rescuer. He is attempting to rescue some iguanas and provide better homes for them. He is here which means he is looking for more info. which is good. I would hope he could afford to care for them (medically) before taking on this responsibility. I guess what I'm saying is my last iguana was a rescue and even if his burns, and cuts, and scars, and viral infections did affect the rest of his life, he was the BEST IGUANA in the whole world and I couldn't have loved him more! I didn't know everything back then (nor do I claim to now), but I assure you that he lead a better life and much longer life than he would have otherwise. Should he not try to provide a better home for these creatures?
