If your iguana is younger than 2 years old...he'll need a much higher plant protein diet for growth. What are you feeding him? Make sure yer not feeding something else like (endoparasites: worms) first of all. Good plant protein sources include, finely chopped/cut timothy hay, cereal grains like whole wheat bread, oatmeal (easy on this!) legumes (beans and peas),tofu and even pouring Ensure or Sustacal liquid nutritional drink over his food for extra calories and protein a few times a week should help increase his weight. You don't want to POWERFEED him...laden him with an all plant protein type diet...it takes ALOT of water to digest proteins...so make sure he's got good hydration and humidity at all times. Every ig is different. Your ig may NEVER get to be those big fat meathead type iguanas...powerfeeding him or not. Long and lean is what you want to achieve.
Most importantly that he is THRIVING!
