Good for you! For me, the worst of it is the teasing you have to endure..."You're taking your LIZARD to the vet??? And there's nothing WRONG with it?".

But for money - here's my experience at two different vets'

Vet 1:
Lizard 1 emergency fee; 1 - check-up; oxytocin (to induce egg laying); 1 - X-ray; 1 hysterectomy with all the drugs etc that go with it and hospital stay -- was approximately $275.

Vet 2:
Three lizards had exams; two of them had fecals, one had x-rays and vitamin B shots; deworming medicine for two. Cost: $75 -- discount for multilples at once LOL?
This vet normally charges $30 for an exam.

Now I do live in Canada (BC) and have converted to US dollars ... but I think you people in the US pay more for vet fees? I have noticed a big discrepency in the amounts charged by various vets in the various posts here.

I guess that means your best bet would be to phone a few close by and see what they charge. But whatever it is, it is a bargain! And remember, ask some pertinent questions first!! For example, him/her what they recommend you feed your iguana, and other husbandry questions.

Best of luck!
Wendy
