: OK...I thought I'd try the "container" method to get Cleo to go in a designated area....since yesterday I was gone longer than usual, and she went into my sons' bedroom & used their favorite teddy bear.
: Well...today I put the container in the bath tub...she sat there a while, but ended up doing her dooty over the bathtub drain...which seems to be her favorite spot. How do you keep them in the container? And how long should I wait for her to go? The tub is kinda cold, being my point. I thought if we moved things to a container, she wouldn't get down from her perch and just go anywhere in the house...sigh...I guess I'll just keep working on it. Well...thanks for your input...guess I'll go clean out the bathtub!! :o)

You must force her to stay in the container from the start if she tries to climb out. Hold your iguana with a one hand in a firm but gently grip over its neck/shoulder. If she poops in shallow water in the tub after a while than she should also poop in the container in shallow water after a while. Make sure she not hungry though when you try this out... :)
Aaaaand be patient. If she has NOT learned to poop in water you must teach her this first of course. I use to practise this method every morning after the iguanas had warmed up for an hour or so, before leaving for work. Try it out for at least 3-4 weeks step by step and they sure will understand. Especially if you also tell them at the same time about what your up to ;)
It can't be that your iguana is stupid. She got to learn.

Good Luck !

Håkan
