None of this is necessarily BAD, Tif. I just found it interesting that the vet chose to automatically treat for "problems" that you say he didn't actually find. While I don't personally think that any harm could come from water injections (if performed correctly of course) without having a good picture of what is going on internally the calcium injection could simply be wasted. The antibiotics could also put unnecessary stress on Rocko's system if they aren't needed.
I realize that this isn't the best thing to be hearing right now. None of this will have any major effects on Rocko unless, of course, he IS suffering from dehydration or the antibiotics find something to cure. And knowing that *something* was wrong but not exactly what I think the vet did what he could. I just found it interesting that a vet would go ahead and treat for problems that may not exist. Definitely a good choice to take advantage of any "specialist" nearby.
