and it *prob'ly* is from the dry food, *especially* since it was "crawly" ... *shudder* ... had that prob with the bunny's pellet food ~ pretty disgusting innit???
keep an *Extremely* close eye on Freddy + make sure there aren't any crawlies on *him* ... give him a nice bath in plain warm water to rinse off any that might be hiding on him so they can't reinfest his enclosure ... prob'ly there was an egg or 3 left somewhere in his enclosure or on something that goes IN the enclosure and it's just hatched ... i'd do some extra super-duper cleaning of his enclosure + stuff like once a week for a while until you're totally sure they're gone ... if it's weevils, they're not harmful, just nasty and WILL spread to YOUR food supply as well ... (still shuddering + going *eeeeeeeeeeeeeew*)
just make sure everything is well-rinsed and/or aired out before letting Freddy back into his house ...
:)
