just wanted to add a "reptile twist" to the aforementioned posting about petco. i have had very similar experiences there on more that one occasion. the last time was the worst. i was there to get a heat bulb and wandered back to the reptile section to check it out. ALL the animals were completely submerged in their water containers. in my experience, this means they could have mites. i also noticed that many of the cages were either too small for the animals, or dirty, or both. i was going to look for the manager to tell him about it, and it turned out that was who was working at the check out. so i told him what i saw, and what i though the problem might be (in a very diplomatic way, i might add). he told me that if i had a problem with something, i should contact the health department so that they could just shut the store down! i said that that was not my intention, i just wanted to see happy, healthy herps. he said, "like i said, if you have a problem, just contact the health department". i instead took the address of the corporate office to write a letter.
fyi: this particluar store was in pasadena, california.
oh, and hey~ happy new year everyone!
