welcome + feel free to ask any + all questions and share stories and pix! :)

have you had Freddy treated for parasites??? (take a fresh poop sample to the vet + they'll test it) ... most igs have worms (yech) until they are treated ~ like puppies + kittens ...
it's VERY important to do this ASAP and makes a HUGE difference in their health ~
just thought to mention it since he seems to have had a bit of a rough start before he met you ... :) ...

the swollen fingers ... hmmmmmmmm ... the the vet have any idea what the cause was??? that might be an important consideration ~ if Freddy has old injuries, you want to make sure there's not an infection goin' on ... etc ...
another possibility is MBD from lack of calcium ... is your vet an **ig-vet**???

hmmmmmmmm ... hope it doesn't seem i'm questioning your care! just paranoid "mom" voice talking here ... *grin*

definitely post pix!!! little iglets just blow my mind ~ can't imagine that my iZ was EVER that small!!! LOL ~ didn't meet him til he was 10"svl ~ 30" stl ...

as for his color ~ igs *do* change colors ... lots + lots o' reasons ...
dark colors absorb more heat + so when they're basking in their warm spot, they tend to get darker colors ~ OR ~ if they're feeling *too* cold, they'll get darker in an attempt to warm up ...

color changes can also indicate what kinda mood the ig is in and THAT is more difficult to interpret cuz it varies from ig to ig ... some igs get dark when they are stressed, *iZ* gets dark when he's happy + calm ... but it's different from his "absorbing warmth" dark ~ when he's really happy, he gets dark + the top of his head looks positively purple and his face gets this pink-metallic color to it ....
when he is stressed out ~ like at a vet that he absolutely hated ~ he gets pale ... swear his head gets totally WHITE in times of extreme stress ...

also ~ color changes can mean that a certain body part is getting ready to shed ~ *usually* that part will look lighter or maybe a bit blue ... iZ looks likes he's been dipped in wax right before he sheds ...

sooooooooo ... :)
point is ~ color changes are normal and tend to mean *something* ... check 1st to make sure it's warm enough ~ and a pale ig *can* mean an overly warm ig ~
after checking that, the fun begins as you try to decipher what different colors/shades match what moods! it's part of learning Freddy's language + understanding what he's saying ...

well, i see i've rambled yet again ... must need more caffiene .....

Bon. + iZ
