there's +'s and -'s for both ...
with driftwood, there's no bark so less chance of bug infestation ... but some igs may find it's surface too slippery to climb easily ...

branches ~ bark makes it easier to climb (better toe grips) and the rough bark will also help 'file' claws down a bit AND will also help 'file down' the exude in male's femoral pores ~ (your ig's a bit young to think about that yet! :) )

the key to making branches OR driftwood safe is bleach + water ... if it fits in the tub, it's easier ~ wash off all dirt + scrub off any loose bark and then soak the entire piece in beach water for a couple hours ... (1 part bleach to 15 parts water) ... after soaking, rinse WELL with plain water ... let this air dry for a couple *days* to give the bleach fumes time to evaporate *before* letting your ig anywhere near it ...

good luck + have fun wood-hunting!!! :)
my best find EVER was a 3' hollow log ... i suspended it in his enclosure + iZ used it as a hiding place when he was smaller ... now that he's grown ~ it's suspended in his room and he still loves it, but has to sprawl out on TOP of it, rather than inside it ... :)

Bon. + iZ
