In Reply to: offbeat question - iggies and bruising? posted by Sharon on July 19, 2001 at 13:09:49:
I was talking with someone who used to raise iguanas casually about Iggy's coloration and I suggested that a few of the dark areas around his face could possibly be bruising from his trying to stick his head through the bars of his "go outside" cage - the spaces are very small square openings in the wire mesh, and although it is perfectly SAFE (he cannot get out) - he can *TRY* to push his face through. i was seeing dark areas in the face region and it really looked like it could be discoloration from pushing on the wire.
ANYWAY - (he is fine _ BTW) - she became very irate and called me an idiot or some such thing for thinking my iggy could get bruised, we got into a little spat over iguana physiology and I dropped it. i was just wondering for my own sake what all of you had to say because I think she was way off in her opinion.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with this.

: Having a debate with someone over this...
: Do iguanas get bruised, and if so - what would it look like and would medical attention be needed?
: I'll explain it all later.
: Thanks!
