Have you done any research on Iguana's before you are going to take it from your friend?
I'll tell you right now that reading a couple of care sheets isn't going to make it any easier! There are tons of them. But only a handfull that don't repeat themselves over and over again. I'm sure there are a couple of people on this forum that would be more than happy to pass some care sheets onto you. I'll put one on the bottom of this post as well (it's a start).
As for the fact that this iguana is mean...just so you know iguana's are only aggressive and mean in certain situations (none of which are usually the iguana's fault)and during certain times of year.
Iguana's tend to show aggressiveness when improper care is given to them and there living conditions are a large factor of that. A small cage, improper lighting & heating, improper diet and improper handling ALL are good reasons why an iguana would be MEAN.
I know more than a number of people now (including myself) who have never had an iguana incident of aggression because all of the reasons above are met and exceeded and once an iguana gets into a home where proper care is given you will have an iguana that will behave like a four to six foot cat!
Believe me proper care and education (knowledge) is the key to raising an iguana. Don't accept your friend's iguana unless you are willing to go the distance to make your home his home. Otherwise you might as well have your friend get in touch with an iguana adoption agency or rescue so that it will get a good home. O.K.
Ps. The link below has more information and links to more information than you could possibly imagine. Enjoy the good read.

: Hi, a friend from work is going to be giving me her iguana and I was just wondering if someone could ost a really good care sheet on them. Also how big of a cage do they need because the one that its in now looks kinda small to me. The reason shes giving it to me is because its mean so can someone also tell me the best way to go about calming it down. Thanks a lot
