Look at the numbers of dogs and cats that we euthanise each year. Disgusting isn't it?
Now tell me WHY people breed. Obliviously, they are only concerned with money and not with the welfare of the animals. Now, I believe breeding them in the US would invite reptile mills just like puppy mills. Our anti-cruelity laws haven't yet got up with the lowness of some folks.

My Humble Opinion as I get off the soap box.
