iZ threw a hideous temper tantrum last winter and actually gave himself a black eye! his eye lid was swollen for a couple days but not discolored ... the ridge above his eye took most of the impact from whatever he smacked his face into and a few of the scales turned dark purple ... about a week later, those scales fall *off* + showed pink skin underneath ~ but it's healed up nicely now + looks totally normal ...

as for does it require medical attention ... depends on the location + the severity of the injury ... if it's something like bruising from another animal's bite, i'd worry about internal injuries ...
