I had taken Malachai to the beach and we were out for quite a while. My waterbottle had gotten really warm and I need to find some fresh water to spray us both down with. So I walk out to the area near the restrooms (intending to fill our bottle up) and saw the beach showers. They have these brilliant little outdoor shower spickets at the edge of the beach for people to rinse off the sand....So I think - hey - there's not too many people out here - we'll just go take a shower...
He trucks on over with me and I fire up the water and kneel down to rub his back and whatnot...we are having a GREAT time... and this family comes walking up from the beach with a couple small kids...they see Chai and start SCREAMING their fool heads off. Malachai assumes "tail whip" position and arches himself all up (ripping the heck out of my knee, as he had his front legs up on me) and these kids are going NUTS...screaming and crying and freaking out. Now all I can think is that I need to protect my Malachai - this has to be terrible for him (couldn't care less about the kids ;))...so I try to pick him up and he just about shreds me...won't walk on the harness ...just stands there waiting to whip something. It almost looked like he was protecting me from whatever MONSTER that sound was coming from. It was really actually adoreable in a sick kinda way. He planted himself between me and the family and was not going to BUDGE.
I had to ask the father to bring the children away from us so I could calm him down. The mother was all freaked and cursing at me for having that THING out in public and it was a big mess. Luckily one of the lifegaurds knew me and came over to help get these people away so I could get Malachai out of there. Needless to say we went straight home and had some private 'calm down' time and I spent over 2 hours cleaning out my wounds... I still have scars from that day.
Public appearances are sometimes NOT a good idea.

: Okay got your attention??? LOL Dont flame me im not joking and yes Iknow how this sounded. First the story. With double d having her problem what ever it turns out to be i havent wanted to leave her alone. WEll today I had to go to the pet store in another town to look for something for her, well I decided to take her back to the store I got her at and show her off how well shes done with us. Great everyone loved her found a new iggy parent who had a pretty good idea of what she was doing and her mother was with her (teenager) who also seemed to be pretty up to speed. Well on the way back (its a 30 min drive) to my town (just passing through it as I was headed out to my moms for my dad's bday) well anyway she decides to poo in her cage. OF course you all know what iguana poo and an iguna in a dog career is like EWWW. So we decided instead of comming home and fighting her in fighting her into the tub and scrubbing the crate and then fighting all three kids and the dogs back out of hte house (im keeping her in my sight at all times at least until vet appt tomorrow) . SO the crate was NASTY and so was she and Lets just say taking her to clean her at my parents house another 30 mins away and with the way they are would have been a BAD idea. SO we stop at a car wash I take her cage out then remove her (shes on leash) start up the sprayer and use my hand to get wet then wetted her bottom and tail down till she was cleaned handed her off to my husband in the car then hosed out the crate then washed my hands. Got her loaded back into her crate then headed back out on the road to my parents house. She just looked at me from top of her crate (since it was wet with cooler water still didnt want to put her into it) so she sat on top and looked at me like I was a complete fool. Can you just imagine if someone saw me doing this LMBO. Just had to share a funny story with you.
