In Reply to: How much should a baby ig eat? posted by Greg on July 17, 2001 at 08:43:59:
So long as he is eating and defecating normally he should only be eating as much as he wants. There is no point trying to force him to eat more unless he starts getting emaciated and that is usually more down to housing conditions than the food. Get them right and most iguanas have a sufficiently developed sense of self-preservation that they will start to look after themselves again unless they are too weak to do so at ehich point vetinary intervention is usually necessary. As keepers, all we have to do is offer a good healthy diet and if the ig is healthy it will regulate its food intake according to its needs. You'll soon get a feel for how much he eats and how often but smaller amounts on a regular basis are better than occasional feasts of course.
