From time to time they might possibly get sick but can recover very quickly if the proper care is given. Proper care of course meaning...enclosure...temperatures...lighting(UVB)...diet...water...exercise etc.
Of course there are times when iguanas can't recover from a sickness and that is when the owner has left the problem for far too long without doing anything about it.
All I can say is research, research, research and make some sort of list that has success stories using certain methods and see how many people have success with that method so that you feel safe using that particular advice with the confidence that other people are successfully raising their iguanas that way. There is a lot of advice out there but I'm afraid only a small portion of it is correct. Those of us who are correct still don't know everything and may never know everything just that the time that we spend with our iguana's... seeing them happy and healthy and improving their lives is a gift because their health and happiness become a big part of us and we will always strive to make our iguana's lives the best that they can be.

: Hello, being that I've neer had an Iguana I don't know much about them, except for the stuff that I've read here. And being a herp dork that I am, I read this almost daily. The question I have is,
: I see alot of post on here about sick iguana's. I'm sure most are from people who don't build the custom homes and are not as dedicated as those who follow the forum, make the web pages, and feed there herps with grocery money, but is the iguana very prone to illness, even when given the proper care? I'm thinking of adopting but i want to know more so what i'm getting myself into. Currently I have Water Dragons and Leo and Fat-tailed Geckos. The WD's care is very much like the care of iguana's except the humidity and water and diet. What are some of the hidden "sore spots" of the iguana?
: Thanks for your time.
