When you take good care of an iguana, including knowing how to do so properly and *doing* it, taking your iguana in for routine check ups with the vet and keeping them parasite free, keeping them alone without other iguanas etc. you will have very few health problems. The female may develope egg laying problems tho. Just keep your iggy well, go to the vet for check ups or any minor wounds or changes which may indicate health problems you will have a ver healthy animal.
Also if you want a long lived animal give it a bath every day for about 30 minutes. This eliminates chronic dehydration...the silent killer.

: Hello, being that I've neer had an Iguana I don't know much about them, except for the stuff that I've read here. And being a herp dork that I am, I read this almost daily. The question I have is,
: I see alot of post on here about sick iguana's. I'm sure most are from people who don't build the custom homes and are not as dedicated as those who follow the forum, make the web pages, and feed there herps with grocery money, but is the iguana very prone to illness, even when given the proper care? I'm thinking of adopting but i want to know more so what i'm getting myself into. Currently I have Water Dragons and Leo and Fat-tailed Geckos. The WD's care is very much like the care of iguana's except the humidity and water and diet. What are some of the hidden "sore spots" of the iguana?
: Thanks for your time.
