It could be any number of things in all honesty. Bad luck could be one. Any ideas as to how/where Axl is losing them ? As far as UV light - what brand of bulb are you using ? Believe it or not, this really is an important question. Diet is also very important - what are you feeding him ? What are you using for a calcium suppliment ? Bear in mind that if UV, heat, humidity, and diet are all being correctly controlled you shouldn't have to suppliment with ANYTHING.....

Let us know so we can make some more educated guesses. If you are concerned enough by this, you may want to schedule a vet visit for a once over.. Fecal, blood, etc. If you don't have a good herp vet yet, try looking at www.arav.org under the "members" section.
