Well in the beginning Uvb, good diet (lots of it!!!), huge enclosure (was in a 20gal tank), temps in the 90's and we actually had to give him increased doses of Calcium in a liquid form with an eye dropper for a while until he could heal himself. He ate almost four times a day for awhile and then generally three, then two. Til he got his weight back. He was extremely mal-nurished as well (skin & bones). Had a recessed lower jaw (which is now grown even and straight) and a few absess wounds that we healed with antibiotic(sp?)cream. The first week kind of determined if he was going to live or not but he improved so greatly it was nothing less of a miracle!!
He was taken to the vet regularly to check his progress until the vet said he would be fine and now he follows the daily routine of a happy and healthy iguana. And growing like a weed I might add! (4-feet).
As for Floyd's possible MBD testing is very necessary (unfortunately in your situation with lack of a good vet). After the testing it can be determined if it is Muscular and Skeletal MBD and a solution will hopefully present itself. If it's any help at all Muscular tend to show up with a blackening of the skin area where the concentration of the infection is. But this is usually when the infection has gotten past the mild stage and gone into the extreme stage.
Good luck! Hopefully he is just over-weight!lol.

: Well i got Floyd out last night and closely examined his toes and some of them are defenitly broken and rehealed all twisted up and he is missing one toenail. Also his legs seem a bit puffy? Not sure if its because he's fat? I got out my iggy books last night and did some brush over reading though and from what it said the puffiness could be the beginning of MBD~Plus some of his toes might need to be amputated~ There are no reptile specialists in my area and even though my cat vet said they see reptiles i would only want to take them there if i had to get him to a vet in a hurry. So i will have to take a trip to the city soon~ I was considering taking my other Iguana in at the same time just for a wellness checkup~ He seems fine other than being mean~ But than i also read that meaness might be a sign of illness~ though i doubt it as he is only mean when defending his territory~ What treatment did they have to give Benny to bring him back from the MBD? I am hoping floyd is just fat!~
