Called autotomy (a defense mechanism when threatened they'll drop their tails to distract potential predators)...keep stump clean ,covered for a few days and keep applying the a/b ointment early am and late night, until it dries/scabs. Should begin regeneration in 2 months when a healthy nub will be seen emerging. The scales may not sit uniform to the other scales and may be discolored with no banding. If you notice any infection,swelling,or tail rot (dried shriveled up, black tail with no new healthy growth) then best to have a vet take a look at it.
