Can ig's throw temper tantrums?

I think my ig threw a temper tantrum the other day. I feed him his main big meal everyday at the same time, but the other day I was 2 hours late. Well, when I went to give him his food, I saw he had pooped all down one of his branches in his cage. It's like he just walked down the branch pooping every 6 inches. And the thing is he has never done anything remotely like this. Was he mad cuz his food was late? Have your igs done things like this to let you know they are upset?
