Zilla was more than likely infested with them to begin with. Do get rid of the Reptile Bark...inappropriate for green iguanas who love to taste everything. Any particulate substrate including alfalfa pellets is not recommended for green iguanas. Here are some Green Iguana Care Sheet Websites to go over:

and my file on using NIX for treatment of lizard mites/Hirstiella trombidiiformis
: NIX head&lice shampoo for small childern can be purchased at any major drug store in the U.S. NIX is a PERMETHRIN product (same active ingredient as in Pro Products Provent-a-mite)its safe, available OTC, and most importantly effective BUT.....it MUST BE DILUTED!!
: With proper disinfection and dilution of NIX usually no more than 1 treatment is necessary.
: You'll need:
: 2 oz. NIX shampoo
: 3/4 Gallon water (3 quarts or 12 cups same)
: A one gallon container for stirring/shaking NIX & water (clean one gallon milk containers are fine)
: A spray bottle
: Q-tips
: Small plastic cup/container
: Old towel or paper towels (best)
: Bleach & Water 1:15 ratio for disinfecting food dishes, accessories
: Add 2oz. NIX shampoo to 3/4 gallon water in a bucket, plastic milk container or similar 1 gallon container Stir well or shake to mix thoroughly.
: Put mixed diluted NIX in a spray bottle
: Reserve a bit (@1 ounce) and set aside in a plastic cup, bowl, container
: DO NOT ALLOW ANY MITE INFECTED AREA TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH YOUR CLOTHING!
: TREATING THE ENCLOSURE:
: Remove, discard and never replace particulate substrate such as wood chips
: Accessories like branches, food, water bowls must be disinfected/soaked in a 1:15 bleach water solution, baked at 200 degrees for 3 hrs, or enclosed in a plastic bag tied shut and sit outside in the sun for a week .
: Liberally spray down enclosure with the diluted NIX in a spray bottle making sure to hit crevices, rims. Let sit while attend to Ig. Prior to re-introducing iguana to tank/enclosure use old towels or paper towels to blot up any "puddles" that may have formed and discard. THERE IS NO NEED TO RINSE enclosure (optional).
: TREATING IGUANA
: Place ig in tub... liberally spray down, under and all around the ig minus the face (eyes, nares, mouth) Soak Q tips in small cup that has diluted NIX in....using Q tips swab around eyes, mouth, nares. DO NOT GET INSIDE EYES!!
: Wait about ten minutes then THOROUGHLY RINSE IG OFF under RUNNING WARM WATER making sure to keep igs head in a downward position so it won't aspirate water.
: Done...Mites no more
: ****some people repeat the process in 2 weeks prophylactically...most report not having to some do because eggs were not completely removed from the enclosure and reinfestation occured.
