HELP! Iguana having seizures?

Tonight (at 1:30 AM) my iguana, Mara, out of the blue, jumped off of the back of the couch (her usual perch) and looked at me with a weird expression. Next thing she did was started gaping. Her eyes glazed over and she stopped breathing.

She has a bad habit of eating hair so I assumed she was coughing up a hairball. She still wouldn't breathe and collapsed. I opened her mouth and looked with a flashlight. She wasn't breathing and her glotus was clamped tight. I began digging in her throat and her glotus for an obstruction but found none. I then tried heimlich but nothing came out. I tried "mouth to nose to get her some air.

By this time, her eyes had glazed over, she was foaming from her mouth, and and she deficated on me. She was thrashing, trying to breathe. I scooped her up and jumped in my car. Breaking every traffic law on the books (and setting a new land speed record), I headed for the vet. In the car, she finally went totally limp, I thought she was dead.

When I arrived at the vet, she appeared to be dead. I rushed her her in (picture a grown man in total hysterics). They told me they didn't do exotics. I starting yelling. They immediately took her in the back and intubated her, shoving a tube down her glotus. According to the vet, it slid easily down to her lungs. It took less than 5 minutes for her to come around and become responsive again. Within another 5 minutes, she was fine (other than really bloodshot eyes).

The vet didn't know much about iguanas but thought it might have been a seizure. HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF SOMETHING LIKE THIS BEFORE? Are iguanas prone to seizures? I have several. I have had her for years and never had anything like this happen before. Any input or feedback would be very welcome at this point.

Thanks in advance,

Vanyul.
